ATTEMPT TO EXTEND SUNDAY TRADING FOR GARDEN CENTRES

The 1994 Sunday Trading Act allows shops to be open for six hours on a Sunday. A private members Bill being introduced into the House of Lords is asking to amend the 1994 Sunday Trading Act, by changing opening hours for garden centres from six to eight hours. The Bill also seeks to allow trading on Easter Sunday.

A recent opinion poll by GfK NOP revealed that 88% of people did not notice, did not realise, or were not bothered at all by big shops being closed al day on Easter Sunday.
